Airborne Forces - Roll of Remembrance - Introduction
This roll was researched, composed and published by Trevor Pearson with acknowledgements to:-
- The late Fred Radley (3rd. Parachute Battalion)
- The Commonwealth War Graves Commission
- The Imperial War Museum
- The Public Records Office
- The Airborne Forces Museum (Aldershot)
- All those Ex. Members of various Parachute and Airborne Forces, names of whom are far too numerous to mention, who were kind enough to avail me of their knowledge, to find time to answer my numerous questions, and to proof read the units covered regarding mistakes, omissions and suggestions of improvement.
- Special thanks to Charles Swindells (Ex. R.A.F.)

NOTES
Numbers and letters at the end of entries:-
- The first indicates the Plot, the second the Row and the third the Grave.
- Thus 20-A-20 indicates Plot 20, Row A. Grave 20.
- At the War Cemetery the end headstones of each Row have Plot number and Row carved on their side panels, eg. 20 A
No Known Grave:-
The names of those listed as having No Known Grave (NKG) are commemorated on the Memorial situated at the War Cemetery indicated in the end column of the entry.
Entries listed as No Known Grave Brookwood:-
This refers to The Brookwood Memorial (Surrey) on this Memorial will be found all those who have No Known Grave and were not Commemorated on any other Memorial throughout the World.
Where date of death is given as after the serving unit was disbanded:-
This can occur due to being discharged as unfit for military service (injuries / wounds etc) and the person later dying as a result of the reason for discharge, he is then accorded honours as for a serving member.
Those where the Serving unit is unlisted:-
These are as per the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Cemetery Registers, should anyone have information as to which unit the person was attached to I would be much obliged if you will inform me.
