This book starts off with the formation of the RSR in Palestine and then goes on to tell about the experiences of a South African Officer (Jack Gage) as he commands an RSR detachment deep behind enemy lines in Greece, operating with the SOE, Greek resistance units and on its own. This book was published by a South African publisher and may only be traceable through an international booksearch company!

I Was In Noah's Ark - Francis Reid (Chambers, London 1950)

The author, who was a private in the RSR tells his story with the unit. It starts with his volunteering for Special Forces, then covers his training and service in Bari, Greece and on Vis.

British Special Forces - William Seymour (Sidgwick & Jackson of London)

This book covers most of our Special Forces and has a chapter about Raiding Forces.

The Commandos - Charles Messenger (Kimber of London - 1985)

This book features RSR's operations with the Commandos on the Dalmation Islands and mainland Yugoslavia.

A Small War in the Balkans - Michael McConville

This book features the RSR's operations with the Commandos on the Dalmation Islands and also mentions some of the joint operations between the RSR and the partisans.

Some Talk of Private Armies - Len Whittaker (Albanium Publishing - 1984)

This book has chapters on most of our Special Forces including a complete chapter on the RSR.
