IN TRIBUTE TO STANLEY ARTHUR SIDNEY CARTER

Stanley Carter, who as a member of the Raiding Support Regiment sadly lost his life when he was shot by an ELAS sniper in Athens on December 8th. 1944 during the first Greek Civil War.

At the age of 18 he defended London in the Blitz, at the age of 22 he had helped free Greece from the yoke of Nazism and was killed by those whose freedom he helped secure. A sad loss for all his family, friends and colleagues.

"They shall not grow old as we are left to grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
